Traveling Japan
2017.09.08
I have now lived in Japan for 2 years and am dissapointed that I hadn't traveled more of this beautiful country.........Until recently
Nova gave all of its staff the week off for Obon. I was desprate to travel the Kansai area, but i had a very limited budget. So i decided to cut every possible corner and make this trip as affordable as possible. So armed with two pairs of socks, two shirts, my lucky underwear and 15,000 yen I was on my way.
I decided to catch the local train from Shinigawa to Kyoto. The trip took 9hours, but I saw a lot along the way including Mt. Fuji, Atami, and the Japanese country side. I originally planned to sleep in Kyoto parks however, due to the extreme tempretures i decided to sleep in my gym Anytime Fitness (francise). I made a bed on the changing room floor and went straight to sleep.
Kyoto was amazing! It is so beautiful and offers so much. I spent most of my time walking around the streets and exploring temples and shrines. I visited Kinkokuji, Nijo castle, Bamboo walk and The Monkey Hill. I had a great time in kyoto and look forward to returning some day soon.
My next stop was Osaka. After I found another gym floor to sleep on, I went straight to a Okinomiaki shop for lunch and Takoyaki for dinner 美味しい! I had a lot of fun in Osaka, and enjoyed talking to the locals. I saw Osaka Castle and enjoyed the river at night.....Beautiful.
Although I was based in Osaka I done two day trips to Kobe and Nara. I enjoyed Kobe although my time there was cut short due to rain. I still enjoyed walking around the water front and exploring the shops. I even found a statue of Elvis (not exspecting that in Japan).
Nara was my favourite place on this trip. I visited the Golden Budah and saw Japans oldest temple. I also spent some quality time with the deer.....美味しい. I like Nara because of its beautiful scenery and long history. Its also not as busy as Kyoto, creating a more relaxing environment.
I am loving my time in Japan and hope to see a lot more of this amazing country. Where do you think I should go next????
