Lahu

Hi all,
I hope you are well and are training hard.
Recently I traveled up North to the Lahu Hill tribe near Chiang Rai. The Lahu people live a simple life in the countryside, working as farmers. They grow coffee, fruit, nuts, herbs and spices. Everything that is grown is shared among the community. This allows them to live off the land.
I was fortunate enough to visit during their New Years celebrations. I got to see everyone dress in their traditional clothes and wear their gold and silver. To celebrate they eat traditional food all day, drink whiskey and smoke A LOT of opium.
I did not take part in the celebrations but watched as a bystander. I did eat a lot of their food though. It was delicious!! They boil various meets with herbs and spices on an open fire. They do this for 4 to 5 hours. I have never eaten food like this before, it was amazing!
I am very grateful to have visited the Lahu tribe. There are six hill tribes in Thailand and I want to visit them all before I leave. So far I have visited 3, Karen, Aka and Lahu.
Keep training hard, I will talk to you soon.
Ryan
